Police responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 6 p.m. local time near Lucille Avenue, about six miles north of downtown Stockton.
Heather Brent, spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, said the shooting took place inside an event hall located behind a Dairy Queen restaurant, where a family celebration was being held.
Brent added that the victims — ranging from minors to adults — were transported to local hospitals. She noted that “initial indications suggest this may have been a targeted incident,” emphasizing that information remains “very limited” at this time. (CNN)
