The latest weather analyses and maps indicate the formation of convective clouds on Thursday, with a chance of light to moderate rain showers in limited areas from around midday through the evening. Thunderstorms may accompany the rainfall at times, while the chance of rain will decrease overnight.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to range between 29°C and 16°C in eastern Amman, 27°C and 14°C in western Amman, 25°C and 13°C in the northern highlands, 26°C and 12°C in the Sharah Mountains, 30°C and 16°C in the Badia, and 29°C and 16°C in the plains. Temperatures will range between 34°C and 22°C in the northern Jordan Valley, 36°C and 24°C in the southern Jordan Valley, 35°C and 23°C at the Dead Sea, and 35°C and 23°C in Aqaba.
On Friday, the chance of convective clouds will return in the southeastern parts of the Kingdom during the afternoon, with rain showers expected and thunderstorms possible for limited periods. The chance of rainfall will extend during the early evening to parts of the far northeastern Badia.
The unstable conditions will continue on Saturday, with rain showers expected from around midday in southern Jordan, gradually extending toward the eastern areas. Thunderstorms may accompany the rainfall at times.
The instability will expand further on Sunday, with rain showers spreading from southern areas after noon to several parts of the Kingdom. Lightning and thunderstorms are expected, while rainfall could be heavy at times in some areas, particularly the southern and eastern regions. This could increase the risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas before the impact of the weather system gradually weakens overnight.
Director of the Jordan Meteorological Department Raed Rafed Al Khattab said the intensity and impact of atmospheric instability vary, with rainfall typically differing in location and timing. He noted that rainfall often occurs as intermittent showers of varying intensity and may be heavy for short periods over limited areas.
The Meteorological Department said it is closely monitoring developments and will update forecasts based on the latest data, observations and weather maps. It urged the public to follow its bulletins and warnings and obtain weather information from official sources.
The department also advised people to stay away from valleys, flood channels and low-lying areas and avoid attempting to cross areas experiencing running water. Drivers were urged to exercise caution, particularly when rainfall begins after prolonged dry periods and during heavy rain or reduced visibility.
