Approximately 6,000 taxis out of the 18,000 operating in Jordan have calibrated their meters according to the new pricing, according to Mohammad Shahadah Al-Hadid, head of the Syndicate of Taxi and Public Vehicle Owners.اضافة اعلان

Al-Hadid explained to "Al-Mamlaka" that the deadline for adjusting the meters is June 11, urging taxi owners to update their meters before the grace period expires.

The implementation of the new transport fare for taxis began on May 11, following a decision by the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) to adjust public transport tariffs.

The syndicate had previously announced that the taxi meter tariff would be adjusted, increasing by one to two piasters (qirsh). The daytime "base fare" (starting rate) will become 39 piasters instead of 37 piasters, while the nighttime "base fare" will become 40 piasters instead of 38 piasters.

It added that the daytime tariff per kilometer will rise from 26 piasters to 28 piasters, while the nighttime rate will increase from 32 piasters to 33 piasters per kilometer.
