The $9.131-million project, dubbed "Rehabilitation of the Water Network of Mastaba District in Jerash Governorate (2022-2025)," will be carried out under an agreement between the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and KOICA signed on March 23, 2022, KOICA said in a statement on Thursday.

The meeting was chaired by the Secretary-General of the WAJ, the Jordanian implementing agency, in the presence of the Country Director of KOICA Jordan Office and officials from both Korean water experts and WAJ, to introduce the newly assigned Project Management Consultancy team headed by Michael Jin from ISAN Corporation and to discuss the project plan.

The project in Jerash will build and design modern networks in the Mastaba area and a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to monitor the quality of water, supply, and demand.

KOICA has been cooperating with the WAJ on different water projects to reduce the burden on the Jordanian government by increasing the water supply and reducing non-revenue water in different regions in Jordan. In 2019, KOICA supported a similar project for rehabilitating the water networks, which will be completed in 2024, in the Faqoua area of Karak governorate.
