AMMAN — The Senate Finance Committee
called for a revision of the Social Security Act to gradually raise the pension
age to 63 years, reduce the benefits factor to two percent instead of 25
percent, shorten early retirement in hazardous occupations, as well as to
complete actuarial studies to ensure business steadiness.

Regarding the Social Security Investment Fund, the
committee’s recommendations included prioritizing the fund for partnership
projects, and to expand and follow-up on its investments, in addition to
granting the fund the flexibility to play a leading role as industrial investor
on the Amman stock exchange and “market maker”, according to Amman Net.
