AMMAN — Physicians in the Kingdom will begin using tamper resistant prescription pads next April, in an attempt by the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) to crack down on opiate abuse, reported the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

In a statement on Monday, the JFDA said it had issued a circular to physicians in the Kingdom to switch out their regular pads with tamper resistant prescription pads, which are characterized by visible marks such as a hologram or a heat reactive “Rx.” mark and other invisible marks that appear only under ultraviolet radiation.

The JFDA monitoring and inspection teams will conduct periodic inspections to ensure that the tamper resistant prescription pads are in use, the statement added.

Earlier this year, the JFDA kicked off this project, in cooperation with the Anti-Narcotics Department, the Jordan Pharmacists Association and the Jordan Medical Association, with the aim of addressing addiction to prescription drugs.
