The cooperation also aims to raise awareness among job seekers and their families about the importance of workplace commitment and compliance with the companies’ internal regulations.
The agreements were signed by Minister of Transport and Labour Nidal Qatamin. Representing the two companies were Millennium Agricultural Investments General Manager Ali Al-Madani and Safe Food for Food Industries General Manager Hassan Al-Qudah. The signing was attended by the ministry’s Secretary-General, Abdul Halim Doujan.
The first agreement provides support for the employment of 121 Jordanian men and women at Millennium Agricultural Investments in the Wadi Araba area for one year under the National Employment Support Programme. The initiative aims to create new job opportunities and strengthen women’s participation in the labour market through additional incentives for hiring women.
The second agreement supports the employment of 50 Jordanian men and women at Safe Food for Food Industries in the Developmental Agricultural Industries Complex in the Southern Jordan Valley, Karak Governorate. Their wages will be supported for three years, with priority given to residents of the area. The agreement aims to reduce unemployment and make use of employment opportunities created by agricultural and food-sector investments.
Under the two agreements, the ministry’s Vocational and Technical Education, Training and Skills Development Support Fund will provide financial assistance in accordance with approved regulations. The support covers 50% of the minimum wage, a monthly transportation allowance of JD 25, and a monthly social security contribution allowance of JD 25 for each worker.
The agreements also require the companies to provide training and qualification programmes, sign written employment contracts, enrol workers in social security, comply with labour legislation, and ensure that job opportunities remain sustainable after the support period ends.
The initiative is part of the Ministry of Labour’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with the private sector and direct support towards sustainable employment opportunities. It also aims to align the skills of Jordanian workers with labour-market needs and promote economic development in the targeted areas.
