On Sunday, the Ministry of Environment distributed 255 plastic waste containers with a capacity of 240 liters to several southern governorates, as part of efforts to support municipalities in reducing the phenomenon of random waste dumping.

In a statement, the ministry said the distribution covered the governorates of Tafilah, Ma’an, Karak, and the Petra Region, aiming to meet municipalities’ needs and enhance cleanliness in urban and tourist areas. It noted that the distribution process will continue in upcoming phases to include additional areas based on needs.
The ministry emphasized that distributing the containers constitutes a comprehensive and sustainable national initiative implemented under the executive program to curb random waste dumping. The initiative aims to strengthen environmental infrastructure in municipalities as well as tourist and archaeological sites, achieve environmental sustainability, protect public health, and enhance the aesthetic appeal of cities.
The ministry also stressed the importance of joint cooperation between official institutions and local communities to ensure the success of these initiatives, calling on citizens to commit to using designated waste containers and to actively contribute to maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
