His Majesty King Abdullah II, in a phone call with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Friday, emphasized the need to intensify international efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance in Gaza following the ceasefire agreement.
His Majesty stressed the importance of adhering to all stages of the agreement, which was reached through the efforts of the United States and the brotherly nations of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, noting the need to build upon it to achieve a comprehensive de-escalation in the region.
The King warned against the continued unilateral measures taken against Palestinians in the West Bank and the ongoing violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
In this context, His Majesty commended the recent resolution issued by the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which pertains to the preservation of the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its walls.
