The Southern Military Region foiled an attempt on Monday to smuggle a quantity of narcotics using guided balloons after they were detected while attempting to cross the border into Jordanian territory.
Border Guard units operating within their area of responsibility detected the balloons, intercepted them and brought them down inside Jordanian territory. The narcotics they were carrying were seized in coordination with the relevant security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal measures.
The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army continues its intensive efforts to protect the Kingdom’s borders and firmly confront attempts at infiltration, smuggling and threats to national security, relying on an advanced surveillance system and close, ongoing coordination with various security agencies to ensure the safety of the country and its citizens.
