AMMAN — HH Princess Dina Mired said Jordan lacked a comprehensive plan to combat cancer, Al-Ghad News reported.اضافة اعلان

“The absence of a comprehensive plan means losing the battle against cancer” and recording an increased number of patients.

She pointed to Jordan being a country with a significant number of smokers. She reiterated the need for “intensifying efforts to reduce the use of tobacco”.

The King Hussein Cancer Center is the elite center, and the care provided in other places is moderate, she told the newspaper in an interview.

She suggested that a national plan to combat cancer must not only provide medication for cancer patients, but also to include steps for the prevention and early detection of the disease.

The number of cancer patients is likely to double by 2040, in case serious action was not taken to address the situation, she added.

The Union of International Cancer Control is launching a campaign that runs for three years, this year’s slogan “closing the care gap for cancer patients”, she said.
