Jordan and USAID strengthen strategic partnership for development

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh held a meeting with the Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power and her delegation at his office on Tuesday. اضافة اعلان

During the meeting, he underscored the robust strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, lauding the U.S. support for Jordan's development through the agency. Khasawneh highlighted the pivotal role of USAID in numerous development programs across vital sectors, emphasizing its consistent support for Jordan's modernization paths and reform projects in the face of economic challenges and repercussions of asylum. He mentioned that Jordan is successfully enhancing its economic and financial stability, having completed the seventh review with the International Monetary Fund, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

While acknowledging the economic impacts of Israel’s war on Gaza especially on the tourism sector, Khasawneh reiterated Jordan's commitment, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, to cease aggression against Gaza and establish a political horizon for an independent Palestinian state. This vision aligns with the two-state solution, aiming for security, stability, prosperity, and regional cooperation.
He also emphasized His Majesty’s ongoing international efforts to provide urgent humanitarian and medical aid to Gaza. Meanwhile, Power affirmed Jordan's strategic partnership with the US, praising its role in regional security and stability. She expressed gratitude for Jordan's hospitality towards refugees, portraying Jordan as a voice of reason in the region.

Power emphasized the transparent and credible nature of the cooperation and partnership between Jordan and USAID, expressing a shared commitment to strengthen this collaboration. She also highlighted USAID's eagerness to enhance its partnership with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The meeting included Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Touqan, U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Yael Lambert, and USAID's Director Leslie Reed.
