Amman, August 11, 2026 – Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned Colombia’s announcement recognizing what it described as Israel’s sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan.

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali reaffirmed Jordan’s rejection and condemnation of the announcement, stressing that it contradicts international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
Al-Majali emphasized that the occupied Golan is an integral part of the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic under international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981.
He also reiterated Jordan’s firm rejection of the continued Israeli attacks and incursions into Syrian territory, calling on the international community to uphold its responsibilities in respecting international law and United Nations resolutions, and to compel Israel to halt its provocative and unlawful attacks against Syria and end its occupation of part of its territory.
Al-Majali further reaffirmed Jordan’s steadfast position in supporting Syria in its reconstruction efforts on foundations that safeguard its unity, sovereignty, security, stability, territorial integrity, and the rights of all Syrians.
