Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned the incursion by Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, accompanied by several members of the Knesset and groups of Israeli settlers, into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound (Al-Haram Al-Sharif) under the protection of Israeli police.

The ministry also denounced what it described as attacks on worshippers, provocative actions by settlers and Israeli police, the raising of Israeli flags inside the compound, and inflammatory calls by extremist groups.
It said the actions constituted a blatant violation of the historic and legal status quo at the holy site, desecrated the sanctity of the mosque, and represented an unacceptable escalation and provocation.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali reaffirmed Jordan's categorical rejection and strong condemnation of the continued incursions by Israeli ministers, Knesset members, and extremist settlers, as well as the facilitation of these visits by Israeli police.
Al-Majali said the actions represent a flagrant breach of international law and international humanitarian law, a clear violation of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, and an attempt to impose new realities at Al-Aqsa Mosque by seeking to alter its historical arrangements through temporal and spatial division.
He warned of the consequences of continued incursions and violations against the Islamic and Christian holy sites, stressing that Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian sanctities.
Al-Majali also called on the international community to take a firm stance and compel Israel, as the occupying power, to halt its ongoing violations against the holy sites in Jerusalem and stop what he described as provocative actions by Israeli officials and extremist groups, which he said are part of the Israeli government's policy of escalating tensions in the occupied West Bank.
He reiterated that the entire 144-dunum Al-Aqsa Mosque compound is an exclusive place of worship for Muslims, and affirmed that the Jerusalem Awqaf Department, affiliated with Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, is the sole legal authority responsible for administering all affairs related to Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, including regulating access to the site.
