The Ministry of Water and Irrigation's Water Authority has seized two illegal drilling rigs in the Ruwayshid and Azraq regions.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said its personnel from the Internal Oversight Unit, Water Basins Unit, and Central Workshops - working alongside the Public Security Directorate's Azraq Badia Security Centre and Ruwayshid Security Centre - detected a violation in the Ruwayshid area, where an unlicensed well was being drilled. The operation formed part of the Water Authority's ongoing inspection campaign, conducted with relevant authorities across the kingdom under its programme to tighten control over water resources.

The ministry added that its personnel also seized a second illegal drilling rig that had been concealed in the Azraq Basin area, hidden behind a poultry farm.
Both rigs and their associated equipment were confiscated, the unlicensed well was backfilled, and the rigs were transferred to the Water Authority's Central Workshops Directorate. Official violation records have been drawn up for both incidents as a preliminary step toward completing the investigation and applying the law against those responsible.
