Greater Amman Municipality announced a light emergency status starting Sunday morning to deal with the expected weather conditions.
The municipality called on citizens to adhere to instructions issued by the relevant authorities and to follow weather updates and official warnings, stressing the importance of taking preventive measures to ensure public safety.
The Kingdom is expected to be affected on Sunday by a relatively cool and moist air mass, with partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy skies and a chance of scattered rain showers, especially in the northern and central regions. Winds will be southwesterly, moderate to occasionally active, particularly in eastern areas.
Sunday night will be partly cloudy and cold, with a possibility of light rain in the north and moderate northwesterly winds.
The municipality emphasized the importance of securing objects that may be blown away by winds, such as metal sheets and advertising boards, and checking submersible pumps in basements, parking areas, shops, and warehouses.
It also urged merchants to take necessary measures to protect their goods and stores and to secure construction materials to prevent blockage of rainwater drainage systems.
The municipality stressed the need to stay away from low-lying areas and flood channels, avoid random disposal of waste to prevent clogging drainage networks, and keep away from electrical sources in streets and parks.
It warned against connecting rooftop drainage pipes to sewage networks, as this may cause flooding on roads, and called for contacting emergency services via 102 or 117180 if needed.
