In a statement, the ministry said the proposal has been included in a draft plan aimed at promoting green growth and supporting the circular economy, in line with the sustainability pillars of the Economic Modernization Vision.

It added that the plan will be announced after receiving government approval at the beginning of 2026, to be followed by a comprehensive media campaign in cooperation with partners.

Yesterday, Environment Minister Dr. Ayman Suleiman announced the initiative to distribute subsidized cloth bags instead of plastic ones, explaining that the first phase will include producing around six million bags and distributing them to Jordanian households, at a rate of three bags per family, at a subsidized price not exceeding 10 piasters.
