Divorce not enough for Jordanian woman to regain original nationality

AMMAN — The Legislation and Opinion Bureau published on Tuesday a draft amendment to the Jordanian Nationality.اضافة اعلان

According to the draft, the text of Paragraph 2 of Article 8 of the original law has been canceled and replaced with the following text: A Jordanian woman who married a non-Jordanian and obtained the nationality of her husband may retain her Jordanian nationality unless she renounced it in accordance with the provisions of this law, and she has the right to apply to regain her Jordanian citizenship.

Thus, divorce is not a condition for the restoration of nationality with regard to a Jordanian woman who gave up her nationality after marrying a non-Jordanian and acquired her husband’s nationality.
