Speaking as a representative of King Abdullah II at the MED9 Summit in Croatia, held under the theme “Towards Greater Security, Sustainability and Resilience in the Mediterranean,” the Crown Prince highlighted the repercussions of the war in Iran on the region and the wider world.

He noted that some countries had come under attack, while many others faced economic challenges, including rising prices, shortages of energy resources and disruptions to supply chains. Jordan, he said, had experienced the impact of the war on both fronts.

The Crown Prince emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause in addressing regional crises, noting that the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains difficult, particularly amid restrictions on the flow of aid, including assistance coming from Jordan.

He reiterated Jordan’s rejection of attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians, stressing that such efforts constitute a violation of international law and must be stopped.

The Crown Prince also warned of developments in the West Bank and Jerusalem, including settler attacks, stressing that the two-state solution remains the only path to achieving a just and lasting peace.

Regarding the situations in Syria and Lebanon, he said Jordan is working closely with its partners to support the two neighboring countries’ efforts to achieve stability and development and safeguard their sovereignty, despite the challenges posed by Israeli attacks.

On Jordan-European relations, the Crown Prince pointed to opportunities available to Jordan and the MED9 countries to build on through joint projects in energy, trade and technology, creating greater opportunities for employment and education while promoting the exchange of expertise.

He said Jordan serves as a strategic gateway connecting the Middle East with Europe, offering significant opportunities in areas including electricity interconnection, renewable energy, railways, digital connectivity, infrastructure and logistics corridors.

The Crown Prince added that many of these opportunities will be presented at the Jordan-European Investment Conference, which Jordan is scheduled to host in November.
