The Eastern Military Region foiled two attempts to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics across its area of responsibility early Tuesday morning, using remotely guided balloons.

Border Guard units detected the balloons, intercepted and brought them down inside Jordanian territory, and seized their cargo in coordination with the military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
The successful operation demonstrates the Border Guard units’ ability to detect and thwart smuggling attempts and respond swiftly and decisively to the methods used by smuggling networks, helping safeguard the border and prevent it from being exploited to transport narcotics into the Kingdom.
The Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army affirmed that Jordan’s borders will remain impenetrable to anyone attempting to breach them or undermine the country’s security.
The Armed Forces also stressed that they will respond firmly and without hesitation to any attempt that threatens the Kingdom’s security and territorial integrity.
