Choosing the right foods during hot weather can help the body adapt to high temperatures while reducing strain on the digestive system, according to Spanish nutrition expert Dr. Pablo Ojeda.

Dr. Ojeda explained that many people naturally gravitate toward lighter meals during the summer, as rising temperatures can cause feelings of heaviness, bloating, and digestive discomfort.
He highlighted fish as one of the best dietary choices during hot weather because it provides high-quality protein that is generally easier to digest than many other protein-rich foods, making it an ideal staple for a summer diet.
"Fish is an important source of omega-3 fatty acids, which play a vital role in maintaining cardiovascular health and supporting normal brain function," Ojeda said.
"It also contains a variety of essential minerals and trace elements needed for the body's proper functioning."
To preserve its nutritional value, Dr. Ojeda recommends using gentle, healthy cooking methods such as grilling, poaching, steaming, and slow cooking rather than heavily frying or overcooking fish.
