Housing Bank Renews Support for Jordan River Foundation's Child Protection and Women Empowerment Initiatives
Housing Bank has announced the signing of an agreement to renew its strategic partnership with Jordan River Foundation, reaffirming its continued support for the foundation’s initiatives focused on child protection and women empowerment.
Under the agreement, the bank will continue to support Jordan River Foundation’s Family and Child Protection Program, launched by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah in 1997. The program is the first of its kind in Jordan and the Arab world and serves as a leading national reference for protecting children and families from all forms of abuse, with a focus on awareness, prevention, and intervention. This support is expected to expand the program’s reach to approximately 6,000 additional children and women through educational programs and activities aimed at preventing abuse, strengthening child safety capacities, and promoting positive parenting practices.
The agreement also includes support for two of Jordan River Foundation’s women-focused social enterprises: Jordan River Designs, which produces handcrafted items made by women from Bedouin and rural communities, and Al Karma Kitchen, which offers a range of homemade food products prepared by local women. Through this support, Housing Bank will help empower more than 35 women involved in the two initiatives by enhancing their capabilities as independent income earners through specialized technical and entrepreneurial training. This, in turn, is expected to have a positive indirect impact on more than 160 of their family members.
This partnership, which builds on the longstanding collaboration between the two parties, aligns with the objectives of Housing Bank’s corporate social responsibility program, Imkan by Iskan, under its social empowerment pillar. Through this program, the bank focuses on strengthening the role of civil society organizations by providing sustained support to help them deliver diverse forms of assistance tailored to community needs and responsive to ongoing challenges.
Since its establishment in 1995 as a non-profit, non-governmental organization, Jordan River Foundation has continued to empower local communities through entrepreneurship and skills development, while providing comprehensive support to protect children, women, and families from abuse. This reflects the vision of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah to help reduce poverty, build skilled generations, and enhance the well-being of children across the Kingdom. Over more than three decades, the foundation has evolved into a national platform for socio-economic development, contributing to the empowerment of a wide segment of people from local communities, including both Jordanians and refugees.
