Szoboszlai Rescues Liverpool in Newcastle Draw

Liverpool were held to a hard-fought 2-2 draw away to Newcastle United on Sunday in the opening round of the Premier League, with Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai scoring a stoppage-time penalty to deny the hosts victory.

Anthony Elanga put Newcastle ahead in the fifth minute before Dutch forward Cody Gakpo equalized for Liverpool in the 55th minute.

Newcastle quickly regained the lead, with substitute Joe Willock scoring just two minutes later in the 57th minute.

Liverpool were awarded a penalty in the ninth minute of second-half stoppage time, and Szoboszlai calmly converted to secure a point for the visitors.

Liverpool will host Nottingham Forest in their next league match, while Newcastle will travel to face Tottenham Hotspur.
