The Argentine star was seen entering the training pitch alongside his Inter Miami teammate, Uruguayan forward Luis Suárez, in a video clip shared by the club on social media.
Since the 1–0 defeat to Spain in the final held on July 19 in New Jersey, Messi had been spending time with his family in his hometown of Rosario.
"The pain is very intense, and it is difficult for this wound to heal. But I am also holding onto all the positive aspects," the Argentine captain wrote on social media the day after the final.
The 39-year-old was hoping to lead Argentina to a second consecutive World Cup title and the fourth in the nation's history. However, the Spaniards denied him the trophy, lifting the World Cup for the second time following their first triumph 16 years ago in South Africa in 2010.
Messi has not yet clarified whether he will continue playing for the national team.
During Messi's absence following the World Cup, Inter Miami manager—his long-time friend and compatriot Guillermo Hoyos—stated that no official date had been set for the return of Messi or his club and international teammate, Rodrigo De Paul.
"They need time," Hoyos said a week ago, adding: "The World Cup is a massive challenge, and there is physical and mental exhaustion. They deserve this break [away from football]."
No date has been announced yet for Messi's return to official matches.
Inter Miami will face Columbus Crew on Saturday in Major League Soccer (MLS), before kicking off their Leagues Cup campaign—the joint tournament between MLS and Liga MX clubs—next Wednesday against Atlético San Luis.
