Trabzonspor pulled off a stunning upset last Saturday in the sixth round of the 2026/27 Turkish Super Lig season, crushing historic rivals Galatasaray 4–0 away from home.
The undisputed star of the night was Egypt captain Mohamed Salah, who delivered an exceptional and unforgettable performance. He scored his first hat-trick in the Turkish league and provided the assist for his team’s second goal, directly contributing to all four of Trabzonspor’s goals.
Henry Speaks Out: “Imagine Doing It Against Galatasaray”
The performance did not go unnoticed. French football legend and Premier League analyst Thierry Henry praised what the Egyptian star produced in comments reported by Turkish newspaper Sabah.
Henry said: “Imagine scoring your first hat-trick in the Turkish league against one of Turkey’s biggest clubs, Galatasaray. You have to respect his name and achievements.”
A Strong Message to Liverpool
Henry did not stop at praising Salah’s performance. He also delivered what was described as a direct message to his former club Arsenal’s rival, Liverpool, strongly defending the Egyptian star.
He concluded: “It is clear that Mohamed Salah was never the reason for the problem at Liverpool. There may have been some disagreements within the club’s management, but it certainly had nothing to do with the King of Egypt.”
