The issue of damaging the environment is still under the spotlight, and is currently gaining momentum, thus the need for stepping up worldwide awareness on the many identified causes of environmental changes, to taking responsible actions, especially since the world is gradually recovering from the pandemic COVID-19اضافة اعلان

Many believe that every environmental tragedy we face, is human induced; god created earth and what’s on it, humans were among the creation, and since then humans gradually consumed earth, driven by both curiosity and greed, to the extent of its destruction. The shortest story to ever be told: Greed is captivating.

Jordan is currently suffering from heat waves, and hot days are not only getting hotter but are becoming more frequent. We are not an isolated case; Canada, the US and many other parts of the world are facing the same dilemma. Sadly, these recurrent heat waves around the globe are killing humans and animals, and causing wildfires and other tragic consequences. Scientists believe that earth is now warmer than any time in the past.

The global concern is that governments did not yet show satisfactory reactions and responses towards the many environmental challenges, a matter that may cause an increase in health disasters and economic collapses, among other issues, leaving societies vulnerable in the face of many future conflicts.

Fortunately, many leaders around the world carry this burden and are sincere in trying to minimize the deterioration of the environment. Among them are both His Majesty King Abdullah and President Joe Biden, who are scheduled to meet at the White House later this month. And we, the people, recognize the importance of great leaders meeting to address many important topics related to the Middle East, in hope for optimistic outcomes.

I read in “the Biden Plan” that the president is keen on tackling climate change through joining nations of the world on the front of renewable energy, and decarbonization, thus revealing his sincere passion to save earth. And since Jordan is blessed with so many rich and rare resources, including its human resources, its geographical location and climate, a matter that makes it not only the best energy generator, but can easily lead the market for solar and wind energy harvests, thus revealing additional mutual interesting topics concerning saving the environment.

To solve any problem, we need to start from its root causes, thus, realizing the ethical roots the environmental problems in order to overcome them, requires both benefiting and learning from previous failures and tragedies, as well as establishing governance mechanisms both locally and globally, to protect our future, knowing that on the foundation that we build today rests the superstructure of tomorrow.
