The Jordan Tourism Board has expressed no objection in principle to adding tourist car rental services to the “Salamtek” platform, in a move aimed at expanding services available to patients arriving in Jordan and their companions and facilitating access to transportation services during their stay for medical treatment.

The position was outlined in an official letter recently issued by the board in response to a request submitted by the Association of Tourist Car Rental Offices. The association called for examining the possibility of incorporating the sector’s services into the medical tourism system and linking them to the “Salamtek” platform, allowing patients and their companions to benefit from car rental services throughout their treatment journey in Jordan.

In its letter to the association, the board said it would contact Al-Khayal Information Technology, the company responsible for establishing and developing the “Salamtek” platform, to determine the technical requirements and data needed to add car rental services to the platform.

The board noted that the association would be responsible for providing the required information and data in preparation for completing the necessary procedures to formally add the sector’s services to the platform.

The initiative comes as part of efforts to expand supporting services for medical tourism in Jordan by integrating car rental services into the digital system designed to serve patients arriving in the Kingdom. The move is expected to facilitate their transportation and improve their overall experience during their stay.

If the necessary procedures are completed, adding tourist car rental services to the “Salamtek” platform would provide patients and their companions with additional transportation options while creating new opportunities for rental companies to benefit from activity associated with medical tourism.
