Zelensky: Attack on Kyiv Shows Russia “Does Not Want to End the War”

Following Russian drone and missile strikes that killed at least one person, Zelensky said: “The Russians do not want to end the war and are seeking to exploit every opportunity to deepen Ukraine’s suffering and increase pressure on others around the world.”

Zelensky is scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday in Florida to discuss a plan to end the war, as part of negotiations that have yet to yield any tangible results. The Ukrainian president has accused Moscow of lacking the will to halt the conflict amid its continued bombardment of Kyiv.

On the ground, a series of powerful explosions were heard in Kyiv overnight from Friday into Saturday, while the Ukrainian military warned residents of drones and missiles threatening several regions of Ukraine.

The nighttime attacks on the capital sparked a fire in a residential building and resulted in one fatality and 19 injuries, 11 of whom were hospitalized, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
