In its statement, the embassy expressed its “deep sorrow over the death of three members of the Amiri Diwan” and said it is closely following the condition of those injured in the traffic accident in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The embassy added that two others were injured and are receiving the necessary medical care at Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital.

Earlier, two security sources told Reuters that a car carrying Qatari diplomats overturned on a curve along the road about 50 kilometers from the city of Sharm El-Sheikh.

The accident occurred just days after officials from Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt participated in talks in Sharm El-Sheikh that led last week to an agreement between Israel and Hamas regarding the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza.

The city of Sharm El-Sheikh is expected to host an international summit on Monday to finalize the agreement.
