Abdi reaffirmed the SDF’s commitment to accelerating the integration of its forces into the Syrian state.

He described Syria’s joining of the international coalition against ISIS as a pivotal step to strengthen joint efforts and support initiatives aimed at the permanent defeat of the terrorist organization and the elimination of its regional threat.

Abdi added: “We are working diligently with our partners, in close coordination, to move forward toward a more prosperous and secure future for our people in a united Syria.”

He also expressed gratitude to President Trump for his leadership on the Syria file and for providing the Syrian people with an opportunity to achieve “greatness.”

Earlier, in October 2025, Abdi announced a preliminary agreement with Syrian authorities regarding the mechanism for integrating SDF forces into the Ministries of Defense and Interior, noting ongoing discussions in Damascus.

On 10 March, Abdi and President Shar’ signed an agreement outlining multiple provisions, including the integration of civil and military institutions of the Kurdish-led autonomous administration into national institutions by the end of the year; however, differences in viewpoints have so far hindered progress in its implementation.
