Israeli Media: Transfer of Palestinian Prisoners for Release Under Gaza Agreement Begins

Israel’s public broadcaster reported that the transfer of Palestinian prisoners set to be released under the first phase of the Gaza agreement has begun.اضافة اعلان

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, security prisoners are being transferred from five prisons to designated release facilities.

The Israeli broadcaster noted that the agreement includes 250 prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 detainees from Gaza who were arrested after October 7, 2023. Meanwhile, the Walla news site reported that the final list of Palestinian prisoners to be released includes only 195 serving life sentences.

Citing informed sources, Walla said that the Shin Bet (Israel’s internal security agency) objected to around 100 names and excluded 25 prominent leaders from the list.

The report added that only 60 of the 195 prisoners set to be released are members of Hamas.
