The parliament’s media office had stated that Sunday’s agenda included swearing in some new members and the election of the president.

The session, originally set for last Tuesday to elect the head of state, had also been postponed.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi judiciary called for strict adherence to constitutional deadlines in electing both the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, and stressed the importance of preventing any external interference.
