Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on Sunday for the establishment of a "new framework" to ensure the security of the Gulf region, hours after Tehran launched strikes on Kuwait and Bahrain in response to US strikes targeting Iran.

"All countries in the region should review the security situation of the important Gulf region, and we must reach a new framework that includes all countries in the area, without the presence or interference of any country from outside the region," Araghchi said during a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart during a visit to Baghdad.
During his meeting with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi on Sunday, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein emphasized the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the US naval blockade imposed on Iran.
During the meeting with the visiting Iranian minister, Hussein stated that Iraq does not support expanding the scope of the war to the Gulf states, nor does it support launching attacks against Iran.
