Ben-Gvir Approves Firearm Licenses for Additional 100,000 Israelis

According to a statement from Ben-Gvir’s office, the minister approved adding Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Malakhi (southern settlements), Gan Yavne (central settlement), and Megiddo and Tel Mond (northern settlements) to the list of communities eligible for private firearm permits.

“This means about 100,000 more Israelis will now qualify for a private firearm license,” the statement said.

Ben-Gvir emphasized that the measure aims to enhance personal security in these communities. He praised his policy, claiming it “has saved many lives, proven effective on the ground, and is designed to empower citizens to protect themselves and their communities.”

Since the beginning of his arming policy, around 230,000 new firearm licenses have reportedly been issued.

Ben-Gvir launched this policy for arming Israelis, including settlers in the occupied West Bank, at the end of 2023 following the outbreak of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
