Approximately 65,000 worshippers performed Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to the Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem.
The department said tens of thousands of Palestinians began arriving at the mosque from the early morning hours despite Israeli restrictions in Jerusalem’s Old City and its surroundings.
It added that Israeli forces erected metal barriers and restricted access for worshippers, particularly near the Lions’ Gate (Bab al-Asbat), causing delays for those attempting to reach the mosque for Friday prayers.
