The games will be held in Hangzhou, less than 200km from Shanghai, which has endured a months-long lockdown earlier this year as part of the ruling Communist Party’s zero-tolerance approach to the virus, according to AFP.

The organizer announced in an official statement that the next Asian Games will be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023.

Originally, the event was scheduled to be held from September 10 to 25 of 2022, before the the games’ executive council decided to postpone it in May.

The Asian Games were first launched in 1951 at the Indian capital, New Delhi, and Jordan recorded its first attendance at Seoul, Korea in 1986.

Jordan has a total of 45 medals, including five golds, 16 silvers, and 24 bronze in its Asian Games record.
