TikTok has announced a new partnership with the music streaming service Apple Music, allowing subscribers to play full songs directly within the app. This move is designed to enhance the music discovery experience on the platform.

Under this new feature, TikTok users with an active Apple Music subscription can tap a "Play Full Song" button when discovering a music clip on their "For You" feed or the sound detail page. The full track will then play directly via an integrated Apple Music player.
According to a report by TechCrunch, this integration aims to bridge the gap between discovering a song on TikTok and listening to it in full, solidifying the platform's role as a major driver of global music trends and hits.
Spotify Excluded (For Now)
As of now, TikTok does not allow full song playback from other streaming services like Spotify, making this integration exclusive to Apple Music. The feature utilizes Apple’s MusicKit technology, meaning the tracks are technically streamed via Apple Music, ensuring that plays are counted toward the service’s streaming data and royalties.
Live "Listening Parties" with Artists
In addition to playback integration, the two companies unveiled a new feature called "Listening Party." This feature allows fans to listen to songs together in real-time while interacting with artists and fellow fans, creating a new social experience for music enthusiasts.
Both features are scheduled to roll out globally in the coming weeks.
TikTok’s Focus on Music Discovery
This announcement comes at a time when TikTok has become a dominant force in the music industry and the way new songs are discovered.
While the company previously attempted to launch its own dedicated music streaming service (which was later discontinued), its current strategy focuses on transforming the app into a primary music discovery hub that connects users to various streaming providers.
