The company Palabra AI, which is developing an instant translation app powered by artificial intelligence, has succeeded in solving one of the toughest aspects of teaching large language models how to understand multiple languages.

Large language models in AI applications now make it easier to translate written texts from one language to another. However, spoken language translation isn’t that simple, according to Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit.
The tech-focused website TechCrunch quoted Ohanian as saying:
“AI can generate content and translate texts. But translating speech is a unique challenge because it requires instant language switching, and the voice must sound human.”
Ohanian and his investment firm 776 believe that Palabra AI may have a solution to this problem. That’s why his firm is leading a $8.4 million pre-seed funding round to support the startup.
The round also saw participation from Creator Ventures, along with individual investors, including:
