Risks of Suddenly Stopping Meat Consumption
Meat is considered an important source of energy, rich in vitamin B12, zinc, and a wide array of essential amino acids. Therefore, suddenly stopping its consumption is not recommended.اضافة اعلان

According to experts, abruptly eliminating meat from one's diet can lead to deficiencies in vital micronutrients and trigger various associated health conditions. Consequently, transitioning to a plant-based diet should be done gradually.

Experts point out that suddenly halting meat intake can cause weakness due to iron deficiency. Although iron is present in other foods such as apples and buckwheat, it is absorbed less efficiently from plant sources. This may subsequently lead to hypoxia (oxygen deprivation), causing drowsiness and dizziness. Another consequence of abruptly stopping meat consumption is a persistent feeling of hunger that is difficult to satisfy with plant foods alone, leading experts to warn against the risk of overeating sweets and pastries, which can result in weight gain.

Experts emphasize that in this scenario, the body "will begin to consume itself. It requires protein as essential building blocks for muscle maintenance. If protein is not provided through food, the body will draw upon its own reserves to support the functions of internal organs."

They advise a gradual transition to a healthy diet, starting with the most crucial step: eliminating processed meat products. These include sausages, cold cuts, bacon, and various ready-to-eat foods, as eliminating them alone ensures improved health.

According to the experts, those wishing to relinquish meat entirely should next stop consuming heavy, fatty meats and replace them with chicken, turkey, and fish. Once the stomach adapts to lighter options, the gradual elimination of meat can proceed.

On the other hand, experts warn against the risks of popular diets that rely heavily on meat consumption while excluding plant foods.

They explain that processed meats lose most of their nutritional value, whereas plant-based foods provide the body with approximately 90 percent of its essential micronutrients. However, they do not advocate for a total abstinence from meat—as it may trigger a adverse reaction in the body—but rather suggest reducing its consumption, such as designating meat-free days and replacing meat with healthy, plant-based alternatives.
