A new Pokémon film is officially in the works.
"Pokémon: Wild Card," a feature-length animated movie built around the Pokémon Trading Card Game, is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release in 2027.

The announcement came during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco, where the first teaser trailer was also shown to audiences.
Departing from many earlier Pokémon films, "Wild Card" will place the franchise's immensely popular Trading Card Game at the heart of its narrative.
The Pokémon Company says the story follows a Pokémon TCG player and their Pokémon partner, Mimikyu. The teaser gives an early glimpse of the pair, though further plot details and voice cast information have not yet been released.
Katsuhiko Kitada is directing, with Akemi Hayashi handling character design. STORY inc. is producing, while Japanese animation studio CloverWorks is handling the animation.
The film marks Pokémon's return to feature-length animation since "Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle," which debuted in Japanese theaters in 2020 before reaching international audiences via Netflix in 2021.
