Investment Minister Tareq Abu Ghazaleh said Thursday that Jordan has investment opportunities ready to be presented with a total value of approximately $15 billion, as preparations continue for the Jordan-EU Investment Conference, scheduled to be held at the Dead Sea on November 19.

During a meeting with representatives of local and international media, attended by Government Communications Minister and government spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani, Abu Ghazaleh said that 338 international participants from 198 international companies had registered for the conference so far.

The conference is expected to attract around 700 participants from Jordan and abroad.

He explained that the conference, held under royal patronage, aims to translate the strategic partnership between Jordan and the European Union into investment opportunities and economic partnerships, while leveraging political relations and international agreements to attract investment, transfer knowledge and technology, and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.

Abu Ghazaleh noted that the partnership with the European Union includes a support package for Jordan worth approximately €3 billion, including mechanisms aimed at encouraging European investors to enter the Jordanian market and establish partnerships with local companies.

He stressed that the government is seeking to employ economic diplomacy to advance Jordan’s economic interests by leveraging its international relations to attract investment and develop productive sectors, in line with the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision.

Strategic Investment Sectors

Abu Ghazaleh said the conference will focus on several strategic priority sectors, including transport and logistics, energy, the digital economy and technology, industry, and water security, in addition to strengthening Jordan’s role as a regional economic and investment gateway.

He affirmed that Jordan remains open to investment across various economic sectors, including emerging sectors, while prioritizing areas of strategic importance and strong growth and expansion potential.

In the transport and logistics sector, Abu Ghazaleh said disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have highlighted the importance of supply chain continuity. He stressed that the risks of supply disruptions extend beyond higher transportation costs to potentially halting economic and productive activities.

He also highlighted Jordan’s geographic location and its importance in supporting trade flows and logistical connectivity between regional and global markets, as well as the opportunities available to strengthen the Kingdom’s role in supply chains.

Regarding energy, he pointed to Jordan’s progress in renewable energy and the importance of leveraging these capabilities to attract investment, particularly amid growing global energy demand driven by technological developments and artificial intelligence.

He also emphasized the importance of the digital economy and technology, as well as leveraging the capabilities and expertise of Jordanian youth to develop technology industries and strengthen Jordan’s presence in global markets.

Specialized Sessions and International Partnerships

Abu Ghazaleh said the conference program will include events and panel discussions featuring international economic figures, as well as presentations of global experiences and success stories and discussions on partnership opportunities between the public and private sectors.

He noted that closed-door dialogue sessions for the private sector will be held on November 18, ahead of the official conference, providing investors and companies with an opportunity to discuss investment opportunities and establish direct partnerships in targeted sectors.

Participants will include financial institutions, high-net-worth investors, and representatives of companies and economic sectors, creating greater opportunities for direct engagement between international investors and Jordanian companies.

Topics will include investment opportunities in technology and artificial intelligence, modern transportation, energy, industry and water, in addition to exploring opportunities for regional economic integration.

Jordan as a Regional Economic Gateway

Abu Ghazaleh underscored the importance of strengthening economic integration among Arab countries and making use of available resources and capabilities to develop trade and investment ties.

He said the conference will address Jordan’s economic role in the region, including opportunities related to Syria and reconstruction.

He stressed the importance of strengthening economic links among Arab economies and developing supply chains and trade connectivity, which would help expand markets and create new opportunities for the private sector.

In a related context, Abu Ghazaleh said Jordan is continuing to implement the Economic Modernization Vision, noting that achieving economic results requires time and sustained efforts to attract investment and develop productive sectors.

He added that positive economic indicators reflect ongoing government efforts, stressing the importance of turning investments and projects into tangible outcomes that contribute to the national economy and create employment opportunities.
