Sharabati added that 90 percent of the goods
sold as Ramadan decorations are from last year’s stock, and that some small
amounts have been imported to meet market demand.
He also explained that a lot of merchants are
eager to sell their stock, which is contributing to lowering the prices.
On the other hand, head of the toy merchants’
union, Ayman Shahrouri, said that the import of Ramadan decorations is facing a
lot of obstacles in Jordan and causing problems for merchants due to the
required technical specifications.
In the same context, ٍSalem Jbour, the official spokesperson of the Standards and Metrology
Organization, said that not all the imported decorations have been up to the
safety and technical standards in Jordan and that this might cause harm to
consumers due to faulty wiring and other issues.
