Oil prices rose in early trading on Wednesday after the United States barred Chevron from exporting crude from Venezuela under a new license, increasing the likelihood of a supply shortage.

According to Bloomberg News, Brent crude futures rose by 47 cents to reach $64.56 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude climbed 49 cents to $61.38 per barrel.
A full meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies, known as OPEC+, is scheduled to take place later today, Wednesday.
