European stock indexes closed mixed on Friday, recording a slight weekly decline following the release of closely watched US jobs data, while Volkswagen shares rose after the automaker announced a major restructuring plan involving the reduction of 50,000 jobs.

At the close, the Stoxx Europe 600 rose 0.17% to 650.19 points, according to CNBC.
Germany’s DAX also gained 0.17% to 26,048.38 points.
The UK’s FTSE 100 fell 0.03% to 10,831.09 points, while France’s CAC 40 declined 0.09% to 8,278.77 points.
Volkswagen shares jumped 6% after the supervisory board of Europe’s largest automaker reached a restructuring agreement that prevented an escalation with labor unions and company shareholders. The auto manufacturing sector sub-index gained 1.1%.
