AMMAN – The capital city of Amman secured the largest share of total credit facilities provided by the banking system during the fourth quarter of last year, accounting for approximately 82%, with a total value of JD 29.552 billion.

According to geographical distribution data released by the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ), Irbid Governorate ranked second in terms of credit volume, reaching approximately JD 1.891 billion. Zarqa followed in third place with JD 1.262 billion, while Tafilah Governorate recorded the lowest share, with facilities totaling JD 150 million out of a national total of JD 36.068 billion.
The trend in credit facilities was mirrored in bank deposits. During the final three months of last year, deposits in Amman reached approximately JD 42.303 billion, representing 84.6% of the total national deposits, which amounted to nearly JD 50 billion.
Irbid and Zarqa also maintained their second and third positions in the geographical distribution of total deposits during this period, recording JD 2.559 billion and JD 1.896 billion, respectively. Tafilah again ranked last, with deposits totaling JD 83 million.
