US President Donald Trump has dismissed concerns regarding the fragility of the truce with Iran, redefining what a ceasefire means in a manner that has sparked controversy.

When asked about his definition of a ceasefire, Trump said, "It’s a different part of the world. I would say in that part, a ceasefire is when you shoot more moderately."
The US President added that there was a "reason" for the exchange of fire between both sides, pointing out that US forces were "striking Iran hard" before the Iranian attack on Kuwait.
"We did it, and we nipped the threat in the bud very quickly, as we do with the greatest military in the world. But some people might say they (the Iranians) were provoked a little bit because we took strong action for a different reason; so they were retaliating," he said.
Trump warned that "anything could happen" when dealing with Tehran, as it is located in a "very volatile part of the world." In a stark contradiction, he indicated that the US military is looking to "wipe out" the entire Iranian civilization, even as he remains supportive of reaching a written agreement to end the conflict and halt Iran's nuclear ambitions.
"If we can get something in writing, which would accomplish the same thing without killing everybody, I would like to do that. Most of my team, I think, would like to do that," he said.
Trump added, "There is not, and never has been, a military like ours. We could go on for another two or three weeks and wipe everyone out. They (the armed forces) are ready to do it, they want to do it." (RT)
