NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe is set to issue a warning to Russia on Monday amid growing concerns over the threat it poses.

Alliance officials said US General Alexus Grynkewich, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, will present his “theory of victory” at a security conference in Warsaw in response to any potential attack.اضافة اعلان

The move comes as NATO seeks to send a message to Moscow to halt its “hybrid” attacks against countries supporting Ukraine.

Concerns over the possibility of escalation have increased in recent months, particularly following a series of high-profile incidents, including the discovery of an explosives-laden drone at an airport in Germany.

Colonel Martin O’Donnell, a spokesman for the US general, said last week that the Supreme Allied Commander Europe’s “theory of victory” was simple: maintaining NATO’s military superiority in line with and supported by the alliance’s deterrence and defense plans.

“However, given the complex and unstable global security environment, we need to create the conditions now to deter any aggression and, if necessary, prevail should we come under attack,” he added, explaining that the theory provides a framework for achieving this.

NATO, which was established after World War II to counter the Soviet Union, has traditionally kept its defense plans for dealing with any Russian attack classified.

While Grynkewich is not expected to disclose new details about the alliance’s strategy, his remarks appear aimed at sending a message to Moscow while reassuring NATO’s eastern-flank countries.

Western officials say Moscow’s “hybrid” attacks have become increasingly bold as Russian forces remain bogged down in Ukraine, and that they could result in significant casualties.

The alliance faces difficulties in determining how to respond to incidents occurring in the gray zone between peace and war.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has called on member states to remain calm and continue supporting Ukraine. “We should not be naive when it comes to Russia... but they know that we are stronger,” he said last month.

However, the escalation in Russian activity comes as US allies prepare for the possibility of a reduced American military presence on the continent.

The US War Department is conducting a review of its troop deployment in Europe, with the findings expected to be announced by the end of this year.
