Guterres Condemns Injury of Three UN Peacekeepers in Southern Lebanon

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today condemned an incident that occurred yesterday in southern Lebanon, which resulted in the injury of three Ghanaian peacekeepers serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).اضافة اعلان

The soldiers were inside their positions in Al-Quzah, southwestern Lebanon, amidst heavy clashes. In a statement issued in his name, Guterres emphasized that the safety and security of UN personnel and property must be respected at all times, and those responsible for this incident must be held accountable. He further stressed that the inviolability of UN premises must be respected by all parties.

The Secretary-General urged the parties to de-escalate immediately and to fully adhere to their obligations under Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006).
