The results of a monitoring report issued by the Ministry of Youth showed an increase in youth center occupancy rates during the second quarter of 2026, covering the period from April to June.

The increase was driven by a rise in the activities and programmes implemented by the Ministry as part of its plan to activate youth centers, according to the youth center occupancy indicator introduced by the Ministry to monitor the operational efficiency of its centers.
The report showed that the overall occupancy rate of youth centers increased from 45% in April to 51% in May, reaching 54% in June, reflecting growing use of youth center facilities and an expansion in the volume of activities and programmes implemented there.
The report also showed a notable increase in occupancy resulting from local activities during the second quarter, reaching 13% in April, 20.57% in May, and 23.9% in June.
This indicates the growing role of youth centers in planning and implementing programmes and activities at the local level, as well as building partnerships that contribute to utilizing their facilities and serving young people in local communities.
Meanwhile, occupancy resulting from the implementation of centralized programmes launched by the Ministry stood at 32% in April and 30% in both May and June.
These programmes included the Culture, Creativity and Arts track, covering drawing, piano, organ and traditional musical instruments; the Sports Empowerment track, including taekwondo, football, boxing and jiu-jitsu; the Education and Capacity Development track, including English Enrichment, an English programme for job seekers and an English programme for information technology students; the Future Skills track, including e-sports and a tour guide programme; and the Community Participation track, "Your Voice."
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth Dr. Mazen Abu Bakr said the gradual increase in youth center occupancy rates during the second quarter of 2026 reflects the efforts made to activate the role of the centers and increase the utilization of the programmes they offer.
He affirmed the Ministry's commitment to implementing its three-pronged plan to activate youth centers, which focuses on developing youth programmes that meet young people's needs and aspirations, improving infrastructure, and empowering youth workers.
Abu Bakr added that the increase in occupancy resulting from local and centralized activities and programmes is a positive indicator of the growing ability of youth centers to design and implement programmes that respond to young people's needs.
He noted that these programmes provide diverse training opportunities in culture and creativity, sports, education and skills development, and community participation.
Abu Bakr also highlighted the importance of monitoring occupancy indicators and developing measurement mechanisms as a tool for evaluating the performance of youth centers and identifying their needs.
He stressed that the Ministry will continue to monitor occupancy rates, review and analyze data, and use the findings to develop youth programmes and services and improve the efficiency of facility use at centers across the Kingdom's governorates.
The youth center occupancy indicator measures the percentage of hours actually utilized for activities and programmes against the total available operating hours of a center during a specified period.
This provides an indication of the level of utilization of youth center facilities and the programmes they host.
The report noted that comparing second-quarter results with those of the first quarter of 2026 shows a gradual improvement in local occupancy.
April maintained a level close to the average recorded during the first quarter, before occupancy increased in May and June, contributing to the gradual rise in overall occupancy rates.
