Vaccinated visitors to Jordan can forgo platform registry — minister

AMMAN — In media statements, Minister of Interior Mazen Al-Faraya confirmed that visitors coming to Jordan who have received two doses of the vaccine can show a vaccine certificate and forgo registering on the Gateway2Jordan Platform. اضافة اعلان

He said that these procedures will be based on the country from which visitors arrive, in addition to their entry point.

Before, visitors coming to Jordan have had to register beforehand on an online platform that has provided them with a QR code. However, only unvaccinated visitors will have to use the platform now.

The minister also said that there are plans to double the number of vaccinated visitors entering Jordan through the King Hussein Bridge, from 500 to 1,000 visitors a day, with platform registry requirements.

The ease of travel restrictions comes as positive COVID-19 numbers have continued to decline for several weeks. The Ministry of Tourism and the respective authorities in Petra, Aqaba, and the Dead Sea, have made concerted efforts to revitalize tourism in the Kingdom, a crucial economic sector that has been all but destroyed by the pandemic, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

As part of the tourism effort, 220 Russian tourists arrived in Aqaba on Sunday.

So far, over 3 million Jordanians have been vaccinated, as part of an intensive inoculation campaign that hopes of both protect citizens from the virus and make the country a safe destination for tourism.
